Eric Cantrell

FOUNDER

Eric founded Six8 Advisors to serve families and employers who are often overlooked by traditional advisory firms.  He has a passion for helping businesses and their employees realize the potential of their retirement plan.      Eric has worked in employee benefits and financial services since 2001, leading organizations that managed benefit and retirement programs for groups ranging from two employees to more than 100,000.  Prior to Six8 Advisors, Eric most recently served as President and CEO of Collateral Benefits Group and Chief Compliance Officer of Collateral Financial Advisors, a Registered Investment Advisor. In Eric’s more than 11 years with Collateral, he spent much of his tenure as Chief Operating Officer or Chief Executive Officer and saw the company grow from a startup into a multi-million dollar benefits and investment firm.       Before Collateral, Eric worked as a management consultant for both large and small firm where his clients included fortune 500 companies in Atlanta, Chicago and Washington, D.C.      Eric Cantrell holds a Masters of Business Administration from the Manderson Graduate School of Business at the University of Alabama and a Bachelors of Science Degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a double major in Accounting and Quantitative Methods (Magna Cum Laude).      Eric married his high school sweetheart, Wendy, 20 years ago and they have three children. Due to the children’s activities, he does not have much free time! He enjoys watching his children play sports, and he loves spending time at the lake. He is quite an avid wake surfer and snow skier.       ecantrell@six8advisors.com

TYLER REEVES

ADVISOR

Tyler is an experienced financial advisor who works to help families and business owners take complex, sometimes daunting, financial situations and turn them into straight-forward, simple solutions.  As the son of 2 public educators, Tyler prides himself on teaching his clients about investment strategies and financial planning, as opposed to simply selling products.  Tyler began his career in financial services in 2008, after graduating from the University of Alabama School of Business. It was his desire to work with families, small to mid-size businesses and non-profit organizations that led Tyler to Six8 in 2013.        He is currently furthering his education by completing the American College of Financial Services coursework that is required to sit for the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) exams.  Tyler is also an active member of the Financial Planning Association of North Alabama and Young Professionals of Birmingham.  Tyler and his wife, Laura, enjoy traveling, cooking, being outdoors, and spending time with their family of three rescue pets.        treeves@six8advisors.com

LARRY WALL

ADVISOR - CAP, CFP

Larry’s clients work with him because of his ability to motivate and assist them as they create and implement a comprehensive plan for their investments, their finances, and often times their business. Larry takes pride in knowing that his clients have confidence that their financial       goals are moving in sync with their values.      Larry has been helping families and institutions with their financial management since 1981. Prior to Six8 Advisors, Larry worked 16 years as a Trust and Estate Planner with several major financial institutions. During those years, his experience included trust administration, estate and financial planning, and asset management. Larry has also completed the three year course of study with the Southern Trust School.       Larry’s career in banking culminated in 2000 as the Senior Vice President of the $1.4 billion unit of the Charitable Funds Management Group for Wachovia Bank in Virginia. Since 2003, Larry has been an independent advisor with a regional firm and as a solo practitioner. In 2004, Larry attained the professional designation of Charted Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP). Ever furthering his knowledge and expertise, Larry completed the certification process to be a Certified Financial Planner® in 2015.      Larry enjoys coaching his son in baseball, and being an Assistant Scoutmaster in his son’s Troop 5 of Christ Church United Methodist Church. JoEllen has worked in the income tax, accounting and financial services area for over 25 years.       She has worked in the securities industry since 2004: helping clients plan for retirement, manage assets, and achieve their financial goals.  She currently holds Series 6, 63, and 26 licenses.    In 1992 she founded Gold Rush Tax & Accounting in Decatur, AL where she specializes as an Enrolled Agent in income tax planning, representation work along with income tax preparation for individuals, small business and corporations.    She has three children ages 33, 29 and 11 years old and three grandchildren.  She volunteers as a Court Appointed Special Advocate, “CASA”, for the children in Morgan County, Alabama.  She enjoys watching her 11-year-old son play travel baseball and spending time with her grandchildren on their family farm.
