Eric founded Six8 Advisors to serve families and business who are often overlooked by traditional advisory firms and help them achieve their financial potential through planning, investing and retirement plan consulting.
Eric has worked in employee benefits and financial services since 2001, leading organizations that managed benefit and retirement programs for groups ranging from two employees to more than 100,000. Prior to Six8 Advisors, Eric most recently served as President and CEO of Collateral Benefits Group and Chief Compliance Officer of Collateral Financial Advisors. In Eric’s 11 years with Collateral, he spent much of his tenure as COO or CEO and saw the company grow from a startup into a multi-million dollar benefits and investment firm.
Eric Cantrell holds a MBA from the Manderson Graduate School of Business at the University of Alabama and a Bachelors of Science Degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a double major in Accounting and Quantitative Methods (Magna Cum Laude).
Eric married his high school sweetheart, Wendy, over 20 years ago and they have three children. He enjoys watching his children play sports, and he loves spending time at the lake. He is quite an avid wake surfer and snow skier.
JoEllen has worked in the income tax, accounting and financial services area for over 25 years.
She has worked in the securities industry since 2004: helping clients plan for retirement, manage assets, and achieve their financial goals. She currently holds Series 6, 63, and 26 licenses.
In 1992 she founded Gold Rush Tax & Accounting in Decatur, AL where she specializes as an Enrolled Agent in income tax planning, representation work along with income tax preparation for individuals, small business and corporations.
She has three children ages 33, 29 and 11 years old and three grandchildren. She volunteers as a Court Appointed Special Advocate, “CASA”, for the children in Morgan County, Alabama. She enjoys watching her 11-year-old son play travel baseball and spending time with her grandchildren on their family farm.
